Houston Symphony names Andrés Orozco-Estrada as new music director

The Houston Symphony announced on Wednesday that the Orchestra has selected Andrés Orozco-Estrada as its next Music Director. Orozco-Estrada will serve as Music Director Designate during the 2013-14 season and will begin a five-year contract in the 2014-15 season.

The Houston Symphony is one of the leading orchestras of the United States. On June 21, 2013 it celebrates its 100th anniversary. Orozco-Estrada will become the 16th music director in the Houston Symphony’s history. His predecessors include such notables as Leopold Stokowski, Sir John Barbirolli, Sir André Previn, Christoph Eschenbach and current Music Director Hans Graf.
