Andrés Orozco-Estrada named next Music Director of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra
Andrés Orozco-Estrada (35) will be the new Music Director of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra (hr-Sinfonieorchester) from the 2014/15 season onwards. “It has been a wonderful stroke of luck that we have managed to engage Andrés Orozco-Estrada,” explained Dr. Helmut Reitze, the General Director of Hessischer Rundfunk. The Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra is currently taking a leading position among orchestras not only in Germany, but also internationally. Choosing this excellent conductor will ensure that our symphony orchestra will go from strength to strength, maintaining and enhancing its already extremely positive development.”
Orozco-Estrada stressed that “the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra is in excellent shape. I am extremely excited about our future collaboration and hope that together we will succeed in touching our audiences with our music and giving many moving and inspirational concerts.”
Andrés Orozco-Estrada will be giving his first concerts as Music Director of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra in August 2014. His contract is for an initial period of four years up to the 2017/18 season. He will give guest performances in Frankfurt in the 2013/14 season in advance of his inaugural concerts as Music Director. Andrés Orozco-Estrada is following in the footsteps of the Estonian Paavo Järvi, who led the orchestra successfully for seven years as Music Director, raising its international standing magnificently.
